DEBORAH ARIEL
Deborah Ariel practices in the area of immigration law. Before
joining SSM&P, Ms. Ariel worked in the field of Customs and
international trade law, where she researched classification valuation
and penalty issues. Among the projects that Ms. Ariel worked on
was the well reported “X-Men” tariff classification
case. Ms. Ariel analyzed the features of many Marvel comic action
figures, detailing the non-human characteristics of Wolverine, Cyclops,
Silver Surfer, and Spiderman, among others.
Ms. Ariel’s other employment experience includes positions
with the Nassau County Department of Parks and Recreation, the National
Lacrosse League, and Walt Disney Theatricals “The Lion King”.
At the Nassau County Department of Parks and Recreation, Ms. Ariel
prepared a manual on procedures for compliance with the American
Association of Museum’s Nazi Era Provenance requirements.
At the National Lacrosse League, Ms. Ariel worked on licensing agreements
with league sponsors and on collective bargaining agreements with
the Commissioner of the League. At “The Lion King”,
Ms. Ariel fulfilled her dream of working on set design and theatre
production, working as an assistant to the producers of the Broadway
production.
